The Launch Model Grows in North Carolina

Launch Map

In March 2017 LaunchRALEIGH graduated our first class of 20 entrepreneurs. Each was then assigned a mentor and we made available Microloans and Networking Opportunities. Thanks to some free media attention that helped raise awareness of our program we received 100 applications for our second class which then graduated in December 2017.

Along the way we have shared this entrepreneur building program with local Rotary clubs, Chambers of Commerce and many City Leaders and the results have been amazing. Two other Launch programs have already started and will graduate their first class in April. Four other nearby cities are in the planning stages with hopes of starting Fall 2018. Several others have tasted the Launch Kool-Aid and are exploring the idea!

LaunchRALEIGH starts our 3rd Cohort in April and many of these applicants learned of the program from friends who were graduates of an earlier Launch program. We are able to tell interested candidates that we can provide:

> The template to Launch their own program using www.LaunchMyCity.org
> An outstanding online curriculum is provided virtually free from The Kauffman Foundation
> For Rotary clubs based in the United States, no need to do a lot of fundraising for loans because in addition to local banking partners, www.Kivaushub.org/trustees wants to work with Rotary clubs to help fund their entrepreneurs using a proven crowd funding model.
> By offering some basic guidelines, Mentors willing to commit to 4 hours/month can be found through local SCORE offices, Rotarians and local business owners.

Personal aside from Proponent of the Launch campaign Matthew Kane:

> Last night I joined LaunchDURHAM (NC) for their first graduating class. Very inspiring!
> LaunchWAKE FOREST (NC) will graduate their first class next month (April 2018).
> I joined a conference call last week for folks in Columbia, SC who are trying to start a Launch
> I have been invited to speak in May to a Rotary Club in Richmond VA interested in a Launch
> LaunchTORONTO (or LaunchTO as they call it) now has a website at LaunchTO.org
