Would your club like to sponsor a new Rotary microcredit project? International  Partner Lead Clubs are needed for the proposed projects listed below.  International  Partner Clubs help plan the microcredit project, assist with the Global Grant application, and provide the primary source of financing for the project.

Potential  Rotary microcredit projects have been identified in the countries below, through a RAGM* outreach effort. We encourage you to write to the contact person directly if you would like more information on any of these microcredit project opportunities.

Rotary Club of Asokoro, Abuja, Nigeria

This club is currently operating its own microcredit program in seven communities.  They want to expand their program with a Global Grant.  An MFI has been identified. Loans will average $250. Contact Kanayo Chukwumezie at  sokanayo@yahoo.com

Rotary Club of Nanganallur, Chennai, India

This project is for a loan program of $30,000 to provide small loans to fruit, vegetable and flower vendors.   This club has provided loans to these vendors in the past. Contact  K.S. Srinivasan at ngnlkss@yahoo.com

Rotary Club of Masaka, Uganda

This club currently has a successful  microcredit program with an MFI they established. They would like to expand their program.  Contact J.E. Sekaggya at jesekaggya@gmail.com

District 2031 (Northern Piedmont and Aosta Valley), Italy

This District is organizing a Job Emergency and Microcredit project to provide $12,000 loans each to 50-60 businesses. Contact  DGE Sergio Bortolani at Sergio.bortolani@unito.it

Rotary Club of Real de Minas Tegucigalpa, Honduras

This club will work with Fundacion Uniendo America  to provide both group and individual loans. They want to assist several areas of Honduras. Contact Carmen Villalta at carmenvillalta@hotmail.com

Rotary Club of Poon North, Pune, India

This club previously sponsored a large 3-H project which included a microcredit program.   They would like to build on this experience with a new Global Grant project. Contact Kumar Shinagare at  kumar@kumarenterprises.com

Information to assist clubs in planning Rotary microcredit projects is available on the RAGM*  website. This information is located in the “Our Publications” section of the RAGM website  www.ragm.org.

The “Our Publications” section includes a step-by-step guide on how to develop a Rotary microcredit project using the Global Grant program.  Guidelines are also provided on the requirements for the Microfinance Organization (MFI) operating a Rotary microcredit program.  The Publications section also provides information on the sustainability of microcredit projects, and shares success stories about  some successful  Rotary Club and District microcredit programs.
