Candace Bangura
Candace Bangura was born in the U.S., grew up in Saudi Arabia, and studied economics at University. After graduation, she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer where she became interested in economic and community development while working at a savings and loan cooperative in Yaguaron, Paraguay. Upon returning to the U.S., Candace received her master's degree with a specialization in community and economic development. As the Executive Director of World Relief - Chicago, Candace oversaw wrap-around social services for refugees and immigrants. Candace's involvement with Rotary began in 1999 when she joined staff as a 3-H Grant Coordinator. Prior to the Future Vision Pilot, she worked in a variety of positions including the Program Officer for District Simplified Grants/Americas Department Manager. During the Future Vision Pilot and Launch, Candace served as the Area of Focus Manager for Economic and Community Development, working closely with RAGM on a number of initiatives related to microfinance. Upon moving to New Zealand in 2015, Candace became the Director of Southland Youth One Stop Shop, which provides medical and social services to youth aged 10-24 years. In 2016, Candace joined the Rotary Club of Gore. She currently serves as the President-elect of the Gore club as well as the Grants Subcommittee Chair for District 9800.
